Interpreting Physician for Inview Imaging
Dr. Steven Okuhn serves as the Medical Director at Mint Medical. He has an extensive background as a board-certified vascular surgeon in the San Francisco Bay Area. Originally from New Jersey, Dr. Okuhn graduated summa cum laude from Harvard where he received his A.B. in Chemistry. He then received his M.D. from Stanford University and completed his internship, residency, and fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco.
He worked as a vascular surgeon with Kaiser Permanente for thirty years, retiring in 2017. It was during his time at Kaiser that he met Mint Medical CEO, Brad Hummel. Together they worked to implement a vascular ultrasound screening program for Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) at Kaiser clinics. In just a year and a half, nearly 40,000 patients were screened. It was during this time Dr. Okuhn saw firsthand the value Mint Medical could provide by operating onsite vascular ultrasound labs. He joined Mint Medical as a consultant and then made the transition to Medical Director in 2023.
In addition to his role at Mint Medical, Dr. Okuhn teaches as an Associate Clinical Professor of Surgery at UCSF and works as a staff vascular surgeon at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center at Fort Miley in San Francisco. He also serves as the Chief Medical Officer at Illuminate, a tech company dedicated to improving patient follow-up and management solutions.
